The Shore Academy was among several establishments nominated for Patch's "Business of the Year" in Point Pleasant Boro as many businesses continue to battle through the coronavirus pandemic.
But it was these businesses, the customers say, that also came through for others in need – even as they were struggling themselves.
On its website, the Beaver Dam Road preschool said it provides a safe, healthy, culturally and developmentally appropriate program in partnership with the parent/guardian, school and community.
"We pledge to celebrate each child’s uniqueness, which will assist with linguistic, social, emotional, cognitive and physical development," the website said. "We encourage parents and families to take an active role as educational partners in their life-long journey for the love of learning."
The website says the preschool wants to explore and grow in a stimulating educational and social environment and the program is based on current brain and child development research, and guided by a structured curriculum.
Each child participates in a variety of individual and group activities designed to develop language, reading readiness skills, social, emotional and intellectual growth.
"They take such excellent care of my nieces and the staff is INCREDIBLE," said Crista, a customer.
Patch readers nominated a Local Businesses of the Year. The local businesses included retail stores, restaurants, hardware shops, dry cleaners, plumbers, car mechanics, salons and more.
Patch will feature nominated businesses in December.
