POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Nikki Parsons says people don’t understand how special the Spa Bella Salon & Boutique is, particularly amid a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic.

The staff loves each other like a "huge family," she said, and the clients have become important family members as well.

"Also, not to brag.... but we have some of the most talented stylists in this state in that building," said Parsons, who is an employee there.

The Spa Bella Salon & Boutique on Arnold Avenue was among several establishments nominated for Patch's "Business of the Year" in Point Pleasant Beach as many businesses continue to battle through the coronavirus pandemic.

But it was these businesses, the employees andn customers say, that also came through for others in need – even as they were struggling themselves.

Another person, identified as "Alie," wrote that the Spa Bella salon is "one of the best salons I could ever work for."

"Everyone is family there, from the bosses to employees to our clientele. Always leave with a smile," she said.

Mya Lamicella said her parents spent their days delivering root touch-up kits to clients there.

They would do that to make sure they got what they needed "to still feel beautiful while at home."

And a woman who identified herself as "Natalie" said: Salon and staff are amazing."

"The salon is gorgeous," she said. "From when you walk in to leaving, you feel at home."

Patch readers nominated a Local Businesses of the Year. The local businesses included retail stores, restaurants, hardware shops, dry cleaners, plumbers, car mechanics, salons and more.

Patch will feature nominated businesses in December.
