State Football Playoffs: Point Pleasant Beach Shut Out By Shore

Garnet Gulls can't hold off Blue Devils

Point Pleasant Beach, seeded eighth in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group I football playoffs, faced Shore Conference Class A Central rival Shore in the first round Friday night, according to the Shore Sports Network.

The Garnet Gulls (5-5) left West Long Branch with a bruising 49-0 loss as the Blue Devils (8-1) recorded their fourth straight shutout.

Point Beach and Shore have faced off twice a year for the last four years; last year, the Garnet Gulls stunned Shore in the Central Jersey Group I championship game.

But with running back Mike Frauenheim sidelined with a broken collarbone suffered in the last meeting between the teams, the Gulls were stymied Friday night.
