Tragedy In Point Pleasant Beach After Man Dies At Jenkinson's

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – More details were released after a man died last week at Jenkinson's in Point Pleasant Beach, police said.

The family identified the victim as Anthony Timpanaro, and they've asked people to return anything to the family if they find anything of his in the beach area

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. for Timpanaro at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home at 3010 Ridgeway Rd. in Manchester.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. at St. Henry RC Church at 82 W 29th St. in Bayonne, with interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.

The incident happened at 11:37 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd when police and first aid squad members responded to Jenkinson's Beach at Arnold Avenue on a report of a person in distress, police said.

Upon arrival, police found a man who was face down in the ocean, police said.

Three officers from the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department immediately entered the water and removed the unconscious man. Once the officers had the man on the beach, they administered CPR, police said.

As other emergency personnel arrived on the scene, additional life safety measures were taken to treat the victim, police said.

The victim was transported to Ocean Medical Center In Brick Township where he was later pronounced dead.
