Temperatures Break Records Across NJ: But That's About To Change
Record high temperatures were recorded in NJ, making it the warmest in decades. But that's gonna change big time.
NEW JERSEY — Record high temperatures were recorded throughout New Jersey on Saturday, making it the warmest Jan. 11 in decades.
But that's about to change big time: The National Weather Service says temperatures are going to dramatically drop, and snow is definitely possible by the end of the week.
In New Jersey, the National Weather Service said the high reached 70 degrees, breaking the previous record of 66 set in 1975. Temperatures soared across the region, with cities recording highs as much as 35 degrees above normal.

Record high temperatures have been set for today's date at Central Park, LaGuardia, and Newark, NJ. The temperatures reached as of 12:40 pm for these respective locations are 67, 66, and 69. This breaks the records that were previously set back in 1975!

Many New Jersey cities broke temperature records on Saturday, including Atlantic City (62) and Trenton (67).

More warm weather is expected Sunday, with a high of 66 predicted. Temperatures will begin falling by the evening. However, the air will still be warmer than normal.

"The air that will sweep in and trim back temperatures across the Central and Eastern states will be of Pacific origin and not the Arctic, so any cooling will be limited," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said in a news release.
Tempteratures are then expected to fall into the 20s and 30s by Friday – and a real snowfall could actually happen by Friday night and Saturday morning. Here is what is expected:

- Sunday afternoon: Sunny, with a temperature falling to around 51 by 5 p.m. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph.
- Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 35. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph becoming northeast after midnight.
- Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 48. East wind 5 to 8 mph.
- Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Light northeast wind.
- Tuesday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Calm wind becoming east 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Tuesday night: A chance of showers before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 54.
- Wednesday night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
- Thursday: A chance of rain before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 49. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
- Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26.
- Friday: Sunny, with a high near 35.
- Friday night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Saturday: Rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
