Swimming Advisory Issued For Much Of Jersey Shore

These beaches have "potentially unhealthy water conditions," according to the state Department of Environmental Protection.

A water quality advisory has been issued for 19 Jersey Shore beaches after samples taken by the state department of environmental protection showed excess levels of pollution. The beaches are in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

A swimming water advisory is issued when a sample exceeds the state standard for pollution and indicates "potentially unhealthy water conditions." However, the samples did not show enough pollution to warrant a beach closure.

Testing will continue until samples show safe waters. A number of the advisories were issued Tuesday; results of resampling were not yet available Wednesday morning.
