1 Injured In Astoria Pizza Joint Blaze, Says FDNY
Early Monday morning, firefighters were sent to battle a blaze at Retro Pizza on Broadway, which left one injured, FDNY officials said.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A fire broke out early Monday morning in a pizza joint in Astoria, according to the FDNY.
The fire, which started at about 4:47 a.m., broke out in Retro Pizza at 41-02 Broadway, FDNY officials said. Shortly after firefighters arrived, they called in additional reinforcements to battle the blaze.
A video taken outside of Retro Pizza around 5:00 a.m. shows over a dozen firefighters and multiple trucks on the scene.

The FDNY said that one fire fighter was hurt while battling the blaze, and sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
Firefighters got the blaze under control shortly after 5:00 a.m., according to a news release.

As of Monday morning, the FDNY said that fire marshals are still investigating the cause of the fire, but a community member who stopped by the shop around 7:00 a.m. said that the cause was a "terrible electrical fire," which has left the pizza shop "completely destroyed."
