The young boy was crossing the street in Forest Hills when a driver behind the wheel of an SUV hit him, said the NYPD.
FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A 10-year-old boy who was hit by a driver while crossing the street in Forest Hills last Friday remains in critical condition several days later, police said.
At 7:57 on Friday, June 4, the boy was walking across Jewel Avenue in a marked crosswalk at the intersection with 110th Street, when a 21-year-old man driving an SUV hit him, according to the NYPD.
The intersection has two traffic control signals, and the boy was walking across the street when it was not his right of way, according to the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad's investigation. The male driver, who had a red light earlier, had just begun driving when he hit the boy, sending him careening into the street.
