2 Astoria Eateries Named Among Best Brunch Spots In NYC

A new Eater list of the 29 best brunch restaurants in New York City includes two Astoria mainstays.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — In an indication of the post-pandemic return to normalcy, food news is once again reporting on the most worthwhile places in New York City to get Sunday morning brunch, two of which are in Astoria.

The new list by Eater NY names Nino’s AQ, located at 35-01 Ditmars Boulevard, and Comfortland, located at 40-09 30th Avenue, as among the 29 best brunch spots in the city — all of which they say “make getting out of bed worthwhile.”

The Astoria spots were two among five total brunch places in Queens that made the list, alongside one restaurant in the Bronx, 11 in Brooklyn, and 12 in Manhattan. No Staten Island brunch spots were included.

Eater describes Nino’s AQ, a family-owned Italian spot, as being “on point with Millennial brunch trends.”

They recommend several items from the eatery’s vast menu, including their “everything bagel pizzas topped with smoked salmon, cacio e pepe pies adorned with runny poached eggs,” and raw bar.

Comfortland, the counter-serve spinoff of Queens Comfort, is celebrated by Eater for its “signature saucy, stacked sandwiches and atomic mac and cheese balls.”

The food site also points out that “brunch knows no time limits here,” since Comfortland is now open for 24-hour weekend service.

The accolades from Eater come a week after six spots in Astoria, Long Island City, and Sunnyside were named on a Michelin-vetted list of New York City's best spots for cheap eats.
