3 Tribute Bands Are Coming To The Astoria Waterfront In June

Starting this week, the concerts will be held every Thursday in June beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Astoria Park.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — The local group that helped bring outdoor movies back to Astoria Park is now organizing a weekly concert series at the Astoria waterfront in June.

The free concerts, which are hosted by The Central Astoria Local Development Coalition at Astoria Park’s Great Lawn, will kick off this Thursday at 7:00 p.m., and continue at that time on Thursday’s through the rest of June.

All three of the concerts feature tribute bands, including bands that play homage to Bon Jovi and Journey, famous Jersey Shore performers, and Johnny Cash.

The concert series was supposed to start last Thursday with a Blondie-themed cover band, but the event was cancelled because of the rain.

Much like the waterfront movie series, the concerts are made possible by support from The Central Astoria Local Development Coalition, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and City Councilmembers Costa Constantinides and Jimmy Van Bramer, both of whom have represented Astoria and Long Island City.
