Astoria Film Festival Kicks Off Its 2020 Season

The Astoria Film Festival will offer a blend of in-personal and virtual film screenings, interviews and events all month long.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — The 2020 Astoria Film Festival kicks off Thursday with a blend of in-personal and virtual film screenings, filmmaker interviews and interactive events geared toward cinephiles and aspiring filmmakers.

The annual festival highlights works by emerging filmmakers from Astoria and around the world, with a focus on social justice and giving a platform to underrepresented filmmakers.

The festival, which runs all month long, kicks off with a series of virtual screenings of short films and web series and culminates with an awards ceremony Oct. 25 and a closing event on Halloween with a series of horror film showings.
