ASTORIA, QUEENS — A Brooklyn favorite doughnut shop is now expanding to Astoria.

Dough Doughnuts, which is known locally and nationally for making some of the tastiest doughnuts with extravagant, unlikely flavors, will soon open a location at 31st and Ditmars in Astoria, according to an Instagram post from We Heart Astoria that Dough Doughnuts has since shared on their Instagram story.

The announcement comes after a tumultuous past year for the doughnut shop, during which founder Fany Gerson severed ties with Dough business partners to open Fan-Fan Doughnuts, and the shop closed their flagship location in Bed-Stuy.

But, at the end of March Dough Doughnuts announced that they’d be returning to a new outpost in Prospect Heights this spring, and that they’re gearing up for an even larger expansion during the summer.

Co-owner Steve Klein told Eater that the shop will be opening their Astoria space and an additional location in Rockefeller Center in the upcoming months.

In that same interview Klein said that he plans to open the Astoria outpost in five weeks, which means that Dough Doughnuts could be sold in Queens as early as the first week of May.
