On-Duty NYPD Traffic Agent Injured In Astoria Crash: Officials

A traffic enforcement agent was hurt on the job Tuesday morning after getting struck by a tractor-trailer driver in Astoria.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — An on-duty NYPD traffic enforcement agent has been hospitalized after getting struck by a tractor-trailer driver Tuesday morning in Astoria, according to officials and bystander videos.

The traffic agent was on the job about 10:30 a.m. at Broadway and Crescent Street when the tractor-trailer driver crashed into the officer, according to a police spokesperson and videos posted to the Citizen app.

Videos posted to the Citizen app appear to show first responders trying to free the traffic agent from underneath the truck.

The officer was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, a Fire Department spokesperson said.

Information on the officer's condition was not immediately available, but an NYPD spokesperson said the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
