Emergency Signal Work Snags 7, N, W Service In Queens, Manhattan

Commuters should expect extensive delays Tuesday after the MTA did emergency switch maintenance work at Queensboro Plaza.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Emergency switch maintenance work at Queensboro Plaza has disrupted subway service on the 7, N, Q, R and W lines in Queens and Manhattan, the MTA said midday Tuesday.

The issue started about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, when emergency repair work at Queensboro Plaza prompted the MTA to temporarily halt N and W service between ‌57th Street-7th Ave‌ and ‌Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard, according to a tweet.

The repair work also caused delays on the 7, Q and R lines.

Service started to resume along the four subway lines about 1:15 p.m., after crews finished the emergency repairs, the MTA said.

Commuters were warned Tuesday afternoon to expect extensive delays on 7, N, Q, R and W trains in both directions.
