GoFundMe To Aid Family Of Delivery Worker Killed In Astoria Crash
The fundraiser will help the family of Alfredo Cabrera Licona, who was hit and killed by a Bud Light delivery truck driver last week.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A GoFundMe has raised thousands of dollars to support the family of a delivery worker killed in a crash in Astoria last week.
Incoming state Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani started the $10,000 fundraiser in memory of Alfredo Cabrera Licona, a Mexican immigrant who came to New York City to provide for his wife and two young children back home, according to the GoFundMe page.
Cabrera Licona, 35, was riding a moped Thursday morning along Astoria Boulevard when a driver in a Bud Light semi-trailer truck made a wide turn onto Crescent Street and slammed into him, pinning him underneath, police said.

"Alfredo died because of inadequate road safety infrastructure in the Astoria neighborhood that incentivizes the kind of reckless driving that took his life," Mamdani wrote on the GoFundMe.

"New York City's Department of Transportation had been alerted to the danger of this particular stretch of roadway by local officials less than one month prior to the accident, and they urged the city to implement badly needed infrastructure improvements before tragedy struck."
As of Wednesday evening, the fundraiser was nearing its $10,000 goal.
The money will support Cabrera Licona's wife and two children, aged 8 and 11, according to the GoFundMe.
