ASTORIA, NY – The season's first snowstorm has descended upon New York City, with Astoria receiving a significant amount of snowfall overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, Astoria received 8 inches of snow by 5 a.m. on Thursday.

This total is less than the 12 inches forecasted for the city before the storm arrived on Wednesday. But it is still more snow than the city saw all last winter.

  • Friday day: Partly cloudy skies, high near 30F.

  • Saturday night: Mostly cloudy skies, low near 25F.
