LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A new photography exhibition in Long Island City offers a snapshot of the community building and activism unfolding at the nearby Queensbridge Houses during the coronavirus pandemic.
Curated by Queensbridge resident Lashawn "Suga Ray" Marston, "Transforming America In Real Time!" at the Flux Factory features photographs depicting the grassroots movement to build community in the largest public housing complex in the country, from demonstrations to vegan food giveaways.
Among the featured artists is 7-year-old Myles Minishotta, making his gallery debut.

On Dec. 17, Marston will host a virtual discussion with some of those involved in the exhibition and show a selection of the photographs on display.
The exhibition, which opened this past weekend, is supported by the Flux Factory's Rhizome Project, a commitment to support Black voices and narratives that begins with a series of programs this year and next year.
