Man Found Dead On Long Island City Shore: NYPD

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS -- A man was found dead near the shore of East River in Long Island City on Friday morning, police said.

Cops found the man unconscious while responding to a 911 call near 44 Drive and Vernon Boulevard at around 10:30 a.m., an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Medics pronounced the man dead on scene. The circumstances behind his death weren't immediately clear, police told Patch.

Cops are withholding the man's identity until his family is notified. A medical examiner will determine his cause of death, police said.
