Hi, Astoria and Long Island City readers!

My name is Kayla Levy and I’m your new local reporter/editor at Patch, where I’ll be covering all things Astoria and Long Island City (as well as other parts of Queens).

I’m looking forward to hearing from readers about neighborhood news, big and small. You can send me an email at kayla.levy@patch.com to get in touch, or follow me on Twitter.

A little about me: I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to New York City to attend Barnard College, where I studied the city and its people (my degree is in urban studies). I got my start in journalism there too, writing for several newspapers and magazines in the city, before accepting a full-time job at New York Magazine. After writing about New York at large for the past couple of years I am excited to focus on neighborhood reporting, and help tell Astoria and Long Island City’s stories.

I want to hear from you, readers, about the issues that are most on your minds — from development and schools to healthcare and local politics, plus everything in between. Have a specific story idea? Or a neighborhood tip? Even a restaurant recommendation? Please, get in touch!
