Noguchi Museum To Reopen In September

The Astoria museum, which showcases the work of sculptor Isamu Noguchi, will welcome back visitors starting next month.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — The Noguchi Museum will reopen to the public next month.

The Astoria museum, which was founded and designed by the sculptor Isamu Noguchi, will open to members starting Sept. 9 and to the general public on Sept. 23.

Visitors will be required to make reservations and wear face masks to enter the museum, which will be open in the mornings and afternoons with a midday break for a thorough cleaning of the building.

The cafe will be closed and the museum shop will temporarily move to the lower-level studio give shoppers more space to observe social distancing.

The Noguchi Museum is among a growing number of New York City museums announcing reopening plans since Gov. Andrew Cuomo said indoor cultural institutions could welcome back visitors starting Aug. 24, as long as they observe strict capacity limits and require face coverings.
