People Struck By Trains In 2 Astoria Subway Stations: MTA

A person was hit by a train at the Steinway Street station Thursday morning, then another was struck at Northern Boulevard, the MTA said.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Two people were struck by trains at two separate Queens subway stations Thursday morning, according to MTA officials.

The first person was hit by a train about 9:30 a.m. at the Steinway Street M/R station, the MTA said on Twitter. The person's condition wasn't immediately clear.

Half an hour later, a person jumped onto the tracks at the Northern Boulevard station, according to a spokesperson for the NYPD.

The person was brought to Elmhurst Hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

Subway riders should expect delays on the M and R lines as the MTA gets trains back on schedule, the transit authority wrote in a tweet at 11:30 a.m.
