ASTORIA, QUEENS — A new brick oven pizzeria has set up shop in an unlikely locale: a street corner in Astoria.
The portable pizzeria — or, "pizzeria portatile," as co-owners Sal Scampitelli and Vito Liguori call it in Italian — is cooking up homemade pies starting about 11 a.m. each day at the corner of Steinway Street and 19th Avenue, according to Fox 5 New York.
The duo ordered their brick oven from Naples, Italy, and initially intended to use it for private parties, the news station reported.
