Queens Wannabe Bank Robber Gives Up When Teller Walks Away: NYPD

The thief demanded money from a Chase Bank but the teller left the counter and didn't return, so he fled, police said.

SUNNYSIDE, QUEENS -- A thief walked into a Sunnyside bank prepared to rob it on Thursday, but he aborted his mission when a teller walked away instead of complying to his demands, police said.

The man strolled into the Chase Bank at 47-11 Queens Blvd. just before noon on Thursday and passed the bank teller a note demanding money, cops said.

Rather than hand over the cash, the teller simply walked away from the counter and didn't return, authorities said. The man eventually fled the bank empty handed, heading west on Queens Boulevard.
