Queensbridge Park Field House Reopens With $6.25M Renovation
The energy-efficient building will include a public restroom, community room and office space for parks department staff.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Queensbridge Park has a new, energy-efficient field house and comfort station for visitors and staff.
Officials this week celebrated the unveiling of the $6.25 million LEED-certified building, which includes a community room, public restroom, office space for parks department employees and storage space for maintenance equipment, according to a news release.
The park's old field house was built in 1941 and had long laid empty. It was demolished to make way for the new facility.

“After 30 years of being vacant, the brand new Queensbridge Field House will provide newpublic restrooms for park visitors,” NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver said in a statement. “This new facility will also serve an important role as base of operations for our maintenance staff in Queensbridge Park."
Highlights of the 1,500-square-foot building's green design include plumbing fixtures that reduce water use, an energy-efficient heating and cooling system and energy-efficient lighting.

Funding for the project was provided by Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer.
