LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Two men who exchanged gunfire early on New Year's Day in Long Island City are still at large, police said.

A group was standing in front of the Hotel Nirvana on 37th Avenue about 1:15 a.m. when a man fired several shots in their direction and struck a 19-year-old man in the stomach, the NYPD said in a news release.

One of the victim's companions then returned the gunfire.

The first shooter got into a gray, four-door Infiniti sedan and fled.

The victim went to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, according to police.
