LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Target is opening a location in Long Island City, according to multiple reports.

The popular retail chain has signed a lease for a ground and second floor space at the four-story retail building that is connected to One Court Square, reported The Real Deal.

Target's new Long Island City outpost will be in the office tower where Amazon was once planning to open its temporary headquarters. Since the plan for Amazon's Long Island City headquarters fell apart, One Court Square has had trouble finding new tenants for its 53-story tower, reported the NY Post.

For Brian Reiver, managing director at Savanna — the real estate investment management firm that owns One Court Square — the new deal with Target "further validates One Court Square as the center of Long Island City."

Reiver told The Real Deal that the firm is "extremely pleased to welcome Target to One Court Square."

The new venture between the towering office building and retail chain will be the first office-retail building in Long Island City, according to The Real Deal.

Target's Long Island City location will be the retail chain's seventh outpost in Queens.

A Target spokesperson did not tell the NY Post when the store is set to open.

The announcement of Target's imminent opening comes a couple of days before popular grocery chain Trader Joe's opens its doors in Long Island City, too.
