Trader Joe's Is Finally Coming To Long Island City This Year
Popular grocery chain Trader Joe's was planning to open a Long Island City outpost in 2020, but is now slated to open its doors this year.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Trader Joe’s is officially coming to Long Island City this year.
The popular grocery chain was initially slated to open an outpost in Long Island City in 2020, but is now planning to open its doors this year, according to their website.
Trader Joe’s is still planning to move into 22-43 Jackson Avenue, an 11-story, 70-unit mixed-use building that has been under construction since 2019, but is nearing completion, according to the Astoria Post.

In January 2021, a spokesperson for the market told the Queens-based site that they did “not have an opening date as of yet, but we are hoping to open our Long Island City store before the end of the summer.”
Locals speculate that the opening was delayed amid COVID-related construction delays.

According to a post from a Long Island City-specific Instagram account, the market is now hiring. People who are interested can ask someone at the Jackson Avenue location, or call the market at (929) 322-7576.
The Long Island City store will be the second Trader Joe’s location in the borough, next to their outpost in Rego Park.
Trader Joe’s did not immediately respond to Patch’s inquiry for more details about their Long Island City opening.
