7 Hurt, 2 Seriously, In Long Island Crash
Suffolk police said a driver sideswiped another vehicle
BAY SHORE, NY — Two women were seriously injured in a crash on Long Island Friday evening, according to Suffolk police.
According to police, 28-year-old Jose Rodriguez was driving a 2019 Kia Sportage SUV southbound on Fifth Avenue at Reil Place in Bay Shore when the vehicle was sideswiped by a southbound 2020 Mercedes Benz sedan driven by Mayda Villatoro at approximately 6:30 p.m. The collision caused the SUV to spin into a wooded area; the sedan crashed into a tree.
Villatoro, 20, of Brentwood, and the front passenger of the Mercedes, Yaneth Fuentes, 21, of Brentwood, were taken to Southside Hospital with serious injuries. Israel Serrano, 22, of Bay Shore, a passenger in the back seat of the Mercedes, was taken Southside Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released.

Rodriguez, of Brentwood, his wife Doris Cabrera, 25, who was in the front passenger seat of the SUV, and their two children, Ayden Rodriguez, 5, and Natalia Rodriguez, 2, were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. No criminal charges have been filed.
