2020 LI Lottery Winners: Bay Shore Couple Wins Big
Several lucky Long Islanders managed to get lucky in 2020, including the local couple who recently won the $1 million Mega Millions prize.
BAY SHORE, NY — Several Long Island residents have managed to find some luck in 2020, winning big while playing New York Lottery.
Among those winners include Bay Shore residents David Paterno and Linda Russell, who recently won the $1 million Mega Millions second prize.
Their ticket matched the first five numbers drawn for the October 2 drawing. After discovering their win, the couple quickly put the winning ticket in a safe.

"Unbelievable feeling and strange at the same time," Russell said.
According to the NY Lottery, the $1,000,000 Mega Millions second prize is paid out as a one-time lump sum payment.

The lucky couple chose to split their prize, each receiving a net check totaling $335,900 after required withholdings.
"It makes life a lot easier," Russell said.
