Bay Shore JCPenney To Shutter
The local store is among two in New York set to close after the department store chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

BAY SHORE, NY — The Bay Shore JCPenney is one of two New York stores for the department store chain set to close soon. The retailer announced it will be shuttering the stores permanently while in Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The store is located at the Westfield South Shore Mall on 1701 Sunrise Highway. Only one JCPenney will remain on Long Island at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City.
The second store slated to close is located at the Poughkeepsie Galleria. The stores are among 13 locations announced that will be going out of business.

An exact closing date has not yet been announced, but liquidation sales are expected to begin July 3.
J.C. Penney announced is bankruptcy in mid-May, saying it was going to reduce its store footprint and concentrate on the strongest stores and its online presence.
