Bay Shore Pizzeria Sold To New Owners After 47 Years

The longtime local business announced the owners sold the eatery to new owners after decades serving the community in a heartfelt message.

BAY SHORE, NY — A longtime family-owned pizzeria in Bay Shore will soon be under new ownership. In a heartfelt message on the Joe's Pizza Facebook page, the owners announced that the Caputo family, who owned the business on 73 Howells Road for the past 47 years, officially finalized the sale of the pizzeria to the new owners on Wednesday.

"So today is a bittersweet kind of day for me, it marks the last day that Vinny and Maria and the Caputo family are the owners of Joe’s Pasta & Pizza of Bay Shore," the message read. "After 47 years, tomorrow we will finalize the sale. Mom and dad will be around for about a month on a limited basis to help transition the new owner. As for myself, November 6th will be my final day at Joe’s and then I will begin my new journey in life."

The post attracted hundreds of message from local residents, congratulating the family and sharing their memories of the business.

"My family has literally grown up on Joe's Pizza," one commenter wrote. "You guys have been a part of the Bay Shore family and more importantly part of my family for so long and you will truly be missed."

Many other expressed the legacy that the longtime pizzeria owners left on the community.

"Bay Shore will not be the same without all of you behind the counter," another commenter wrote. "Going to Joe's we not only looked forward to the food but also seeing you and your family there. Joe’s is a staple of Bay Shore and will be dearly missed."

The announcement also thanked the loyal customers and community members who supported the business for decades.

"I can’t begin to put into words how much i am appreciative of all of our wonderful customers that have been a special part of mine and my family’s lives through the years," the owner wrote. "There are a lot you out there who have seen me grow up behind the counter. It means a lot that we have been able to be a part of all your lives for all these years. How much I have enjoyed all of the wonderful people I have been able to work along side & have helped mold me into the man I am today. So I just want to say a very big thank you for being such a special part of my life."
