Bay Shore School Budget Passes

The votes are in. The absentee ballots were counted and the community approved the 2020-2021 school budget.

BAY SHORE, NY — Residents within the Bay Shore School District boundaries voted to approve the 2020-21 school budget by a margin of 2,782 votes to 1,411.

Residents voted on the district's proposed $162,967,087 spending plan for the school year, a 2.24 percent increase from the current budget. To fund the increase, the district proposed a tax levy of $113,329,894, up 3.70 percent from the current year's.

For the two open school board trustee seats, Louis Bettinelli and Guy Leggio beat out Karlief Boyd and Tuere Morton . Bettinelli received 2,090 votes, Leggio received 2,476 votes, Boyd received 1,058 votes and Morton received 1,133 votes.
