BAY SHORE, NY — The Bay Shore School District announced Friday, officials will be continuing to closely monitor developments related to coronavirus and taking additional preventative steps against the disease. In a message to the community, officials stated that due to updated guidance received from the Suffolk County Department of Health, the district will be taking the further action to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Starting on Saturday, March 14, all field trips will be canceled through March 31. As the situation continues to develop, the district may decide to extend that date. In addition, all meetings and events being held at the school by outside groups during the same time frame will be canceled. All groups currently holding permits to use district facilities will be contacted directly.

Earlier this week, out of an abundance of caution, the school already postponed the production of Cats that was scheduled for next week until later in the spring. The Gardiner Manor School trip to The Lion King was also canceled. The school is working on rescheduling the trip.
