Fight Breaks Out At Long Island Bagel Shop Over Mask

One person was injured after the fight at the Bagel Cafe Friday morning.

BAY SHORE, NY — A fight broke out between two customers over wearing a mask at a local bagel shop in Bay Shore Friday morning, according to Suffolk police.

Officers responded to a call at the Bagel Cafe on W. Main Street at 8:25 a.m.

According to a witness account, a man was asked by an employee to put on a mask. The man responded that he should "keep his opinions for himself" and that "he doesn't care about masks." He then attacked another man by the door and put him in a chokehold, according to the witness. The man then dragged the other man outside where the fight ensued, the witness said. The man was described by the witness as "very aggressive" and "could not be stopped."

One customer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

There were no arrests and the investigation is continuing.
