Firefighters Help Free Man Whose Hand Became Pinned Under Car

The man's hand became trapped under the frame of his car after he drove up to the beach early Monday.

BAY SHORE, NY — Firefighters rescued a man whose hand got stuck under his car on Benjamin Beach in Bay Shore Monday morning.

The Bay Shore Fire Department and the Suffolk police received a call of a man trapped under a car at the Bay Shore Marina just before 5 a.m.

When they arrived, firefighters found that the car was on the sand at the beach and close to the water. They also found that the man's arm was pinned under the frame of the car and his hand was caught up in the engine.

Officials deployed airbags to relieve the pressure off the man's arm while other members removed the car's tire to gain better access.

The man's hand was freed shortly after and he received medical care by Bay Shore Ambulance personnel.

The man was then to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for further treatment.
