Flash Flood Watch Issued For Long Island
A cold front will interact with tropical moisture from Hurricane Michael, bringing a flooding threat to the island Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Long Island. It will be in effect from noon Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday.
A cold front moving across the region will interact with tropical moisture from Hurricane Michael, which is expected to remain well south of the island before it heads out to sea Friday.
Showers, and possible thunderstorms, will develop Thursday afternoon and continue into Thursday night, resulting in moderate to locally heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts are expected to average between 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts possible. Any heavy rainfall that occurs within a 1-3 hour window may result in flash flooding. The heaviest rainfall is expected to fall across portions of New York City, Long Island and southeastern Connecticut.
