LI Physician Assistant Charged With Sexual Abuse Of Teen

Police say he gave a 14-year-old female patient money in an attempt to prevent her from reporting the crime.

BAY SHORE, NY – A Long Island physician assistant engaged in sexual contact with a 14-year-old female patient and then gave her money in an attempt to prevent her from reporting the crime, Suffolk Police said Friday.

Following an investigation by Special Victim Section detectives, Richard Bennett, 48, was arrested May 21 on for having inappropriate sexual contact with the patient earlier that month while he was employed at Family Medical Care at 1745 Union Boulevard in Bay Shore, police said.

Bennett, of Coram, was charged with third degree sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and compounding a crime. He was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 22 and released on his own recognizance.
