Man Drove Drunk, Crashed Into Pole With 2 Kids In Car: Police

The 25-year-old was driving with a woman and her kids, ages 4 and 5, when he crashed into a pole then a fence Tuesday night, police said.

BAY SHORE, MY — A Bay Shore man crashed his car into a telephone pole and a fence while driving drunk with two children in the car Tuesday night, according to Suffolk police.

Damien Williams, 25, was driving a 2016 Toyota Camry southbound on Fifth Avenue when the car struck a telephone pole and then crashed into a picket fence in front of 1356 Fifth Avenue at 9:45 p.m., police said.

There were three passengers in the car; a 23-year-old Bay Shore woman and her two children, ages 4 and 5, police said. No injuries were reported.

Officers at the scene found that Williams was intoxicated, police said.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15-years-old or younger under Leandra’s Law and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

The children were released to their mother.

Williams is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
