Man Fatally Struck By Driver On Sunrise Highway: SCPD
Police identified the 27-year-old victim, who "brought a smile and joy with him anywhere he went." A search is on for the driver, who fled.

BAY SHORE, NY — A man was fatally struck by a driver on the Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore early Saturday, according to Suffolk police.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man, later identified as 27-year-old Elvis Galvez Menjivar, of Bay Shore, lying in the right lane of eastbound Sunrise Highway, near Exit 43, at 1 a.m.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said on Sunday that Menjivar was struck by a car that fled the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6553 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
Menjivar was a real estate salesman for Signature Premier Properties, according to his Facebook page.

A GoFundMe set up for Menjivar's family has raised more than $18,000 in less than a day. The organizer of the fundraiser said Menjivar was "a son, brother, and a dear friend to so many of us. He brought a smile and joy with him anywhere he went."
