New Clothing Boutique In Bay Shore Offers Thoughtful Fashion
The owner of Origin of Era wanted to bring her carefully-curated women's shop to a town she loves.
BAY SHORE, NY —A new women's boutique opened in Bay Shore last month, showcasing independent, women-owned clothing brands. Renee Goldfarb is the owner of Origin of Era at 90 W. Main St. and she's a long-time veteran of female fashion.
Goldfarb, who lives in Amityville, opened her first shop in Brooklyn eight years ago before moving it to Port Jefferson after six years.
"Working in fashion for over 15 years, the next step for me was to own my own boutique. I'm also a shopaholic, so being able to buy for others gives me a bit of satisfaction," Goldfarb told Patch.

She decided to open closer to home after briefly moving her business online-only during the pandemic.
"We were able to host daily live shop feeds, as well as virtual one-on-one appointments for our clients. We have always had an online shop but this made us solely rely on that way of doing business. We partnered with other local business owners to help each other and created a very close-knit community for us."

Carefully curating the selections at the boutique is Goldfarb's passion.
"We only carry small-batch, sustainable, and female-made designers and brands for everything we offer. We want everyone to feel that they are not only supporting a small business but also supporting a diverse group of women who have the same ethos as we do."
"I would say we are a good mix of rustic, bohemian, classic, and of course diverse."
Goldfarb thinks Bay Shore is the perfect location for a progressive, diverse and socially-conscious business model.
"I always knew Bay Shore was the Long Island location for me and it was a matter of time that I found the perfect space. Being surrounded by so many fantastic people is really warming. From the other business owners to the customers and friends who come through our doors, it really is a special place."
