BAY SHORE, NY - A new Italian restaurant is set to open in Bay Shore soon.

ITA Kitchen is currently under construction at 45 W Main Street and is set to open by the end of the summer.

Once completed, the 2,300 square-foot eatery will seat 56, including 10 at the bar. They are also going to be available for delivery and take out on DoorDash and UberEats.

This is owner and chef Salvatore Sorrentino's first solo restaurant, but he definitely has already learned a lot about the business.

Sorrentino says the new restaurant will have a similar style to Andrea's 25 in Commack, which is owned by his brother, Matthew Sorrentino and cousin, Peter Campisi. The trio opened the restaurant in honor of Matthew and Salvatore's father, Andrew Sorrentino, who passed away in 2009.

"It's going to be casual but you're going to feel like you're dining in an upscale restaurant," he told Patch. "We want to make the customers feel like they're family so it's a real family atmosphere."

ITA Kitchen will even host an event on Sundays to allow kids to make their own desserts in the kitchen.

After helping his family out at their restaurants, Sorrentino is excited to venture out on his own in Bay Shore. He had been looking to open in the area for the past four years.

"[Bay Shore] is up and coming, there's a lot of businesses coming in," he said. His wife found the listing on Craigslist and after speaking to the owner, Sorrentino realized it was a perfect match.

The menu will offer a mix of traditional and a little fusion. Sorrentino is looking forward to bringing the luciano sauce, which has proven to be popular at Andrea's 25, to Bay Shore.

"I'm sure they're going to love it," he said. "It's been a hit for over 20 years it's a sauce that everybody swears by."

He says the residents have already given such a positive response. He hopes that the residents can start to enjoy the eatery by late August.
