Owner Of Popular Local Tavern Tests Positive For Coronavirus

BRIGHTWATERS, NY — The owner of a popular Brightwaters bar temporarily closed down the business and plans it professionally cleaned after testing positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.

In a message to the community via Facebook, the owner of Henley's Village Tavern announced on Sunday that he had tested positive the day before.

"I had planned to quarantine and wait out the incubation period after hearing I was in contact with someone who had tested positive the day before," he wrote. "However, I woke up feeling lousy and wanted to test immediately."

The owner stated he has scheduled for the restaurant to be professionally cleaned and sanitized before reopening and that all of the staff will be required to get tested.

"No member will return to work without a negative test, including myself," he wrote. "I’m hopeful that we will be able to open safely by the end of the week. We plan to keep all of you updated via our social media accounts."

There is no word if any other staff member or patron has tested positive for the coronavirus. In a comment, the owner stated that as of Sunday afternoon none of the employees working Saturday reported any symptoms, but all will be tested.

Hundreds of local residents sent well wishes to the local business owner in the comment section of the post.

"Get well soon! We love Henley's!" one commenter wrote.
