Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car North Bay Shore

The man died after he was hit but a car on Fifth Avenue early Thursday.

NORTH BAY SHORE, NY — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in North Bay Shore early Thursday morning, according to Suffolk police.

A 34-year-old Bay Shore man was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla southbound on Fifth Avenue, near Claremont Avenue, when the car struck a man in the road at 3:10 a.m., police said.

The man, who has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead on the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver was not injured.

The car was impounded for a safety check.
