Philharmonic Concert With Fireworks Show at Heckscher State Park

The Islip Arts Council's annual free concert and fireworks show returns to Heckscher State Park.

On Saturday, July 16, visit Heckscher State Park in East Islip for a free concert to ''Honor Our Hometown Heroes,'' conducted by David Stewart Wiley. Originally brought to Long Island in 1981 by Lillian Barbash, it is the most important cultural event in Suffolk County, according to the Islip Arts Council, which sponsors the event.

The annual free concert also features a fabulous fireworks display by the world-famous Grucci family, and new this year, special guest vocalist Christina Chirumbolo will accompany the orchestra for several selections.

The concert starts at 8 p.m.
