Police ID Man Found Dead In Long Island Backyard

The 36-year-old was found dead in the backyard of an unoccupied home and police believe the death was criminal.

BAYWOOD, NY — Suffolk police have identified the man found dead in a backyard in Baywood home over the weekend. Wayne Cherry, 36, of Brentwood, was found in the backyard of an unoccupied Udall Road home Sunday morning, police said.

According to police, he suffered a wound to his head. The exact cause of death, which appears criminal, will be determined by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
