BAY SHORE, NY — A popular waterfront Bay Shore restaurant announced it will be "hibernating" for the winter starting next week for the first time in its 14-year history.

The LakeHouse on 135 Maple Ave. stated in a post on its Facebook page that it will be closing for the season starting on Monday.

"While this was an incredibly difficult decision to make, we know it is the best way to weather this storm, and that ultimately it is the right thing to do for our guests, staff, and business," the post read. "Even with the most stringent safety precautions, we feel the recent surge in COVID-19 cases on Long Island calls for an abundance of caution."
