Shots Fired In North Bay Shore, 2 Teens Arrested: Police
The 18-year-old men were arrested after they were found with handguns near the scene of the reported shooting Sunday night, police say.
NORTH BAY SHORE, NY — Two teens were arrested after a shooting was reported in North Bay Shore on Sunday night, according to Suffolk Police. Officers responded to Hemlock Drive, East of Manatuck Boulevard, after getting several 911 calls of shots fired at 7:55 p.m. When they arrived, they found shell casings on the ground and began canvassing the area, police said.
Officers found two 18-year-old Bay Shore men, Jason Espinal and Jose Linarte nearby, both in possession of a handgun, police said. They were arrested a short distance from the scene.
Espinal was charged with first degree reckless endangerment and second degree criminal possession of a weapon. Linarte was charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon. They are being held overnight at the Third Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 4.
