After a gorgeous Memorial Day, temperatures will be noticeably cooler Tuesday and scattered thunderstorms will be possible later in the day.
Some of the storms could produce small hail and heavy rain, the National Weather Service says. The highest chance of thunderstorms will be around 8-10 p.m.
The high temperature hit 81 degrees at Long Island MacArthur Airport Monday. The high isn't expected to make it out of the low-60s Tuesday.

Tuesday- Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 4pm. Steady temperature around 61. Southeast wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday Night- Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between midnight and 2am, then a chance of showers after 2am. Some of the storms could produce small hail and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind 8 to 11 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night- Showers likely, mainly between 8pm and midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Thursday- Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75.
Thursday Night- A chance of showers before 10pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
