Teacher of the Month-Huntington Learning Center, Bay Shore, NY

Huntington Learning Center of Bay Shore announced Joshua Skou as Teacher of the Month for June. Celebrating 40 years as the premier tutoring and test prep company, Huntington prides itself on its outstanding tutoring staff. Skou has been employed by Huntington Learning Center for two years teaching reading and history.

Nominations for Huntington’s Teacher of the Month award are based on the teacher’s commitment to the Huntington mission of giving every student the best education possible. Bay Shore Center Director Ida Rascoe affirms that Skou is very deserving of this recognition. “Joshua is an excellent teacher who transforms struggling students into star performers,” she says. “He has a talent for simplifying difficult topics and building students’ self-confidence. In our community, Joshua has earned a reputation as someone who makes a lasting difference in the lives of students.”

Joshua’s most memorable teaching experience is when one of his students at the center got a word problem incorrect and couldn’t understand why. Joshua drew a picture to help his student visually see the problem because he knows all students learn differently.
