Woman Thanks Officers For Helping During Birth On Side Of Road
The 27-year-old mom unexpectedly gave birth to her baby girl in a car on the side of the road on Thursday with assistance from two officers.

BAY SHORE, NY — An East Patchogue mom who gave birth in a car on the side of the road this week, got the chance to thank the Suffolk police officers who helped her during the delivery in Bay Shore on Friday.
Officers Danielle Congedo and Daniel Rosado responded to a 911 call, made by the baby's father Robert Notarnicola, reporting a woman in labor in a car in front of 166 Hospital Road in East Patchogue at 7:20 a.m.
The two found 27-year-old Nicole Gonzalez in labor in the front passenger seat of the car and helped delivered a baby girl.

"It was quite an experience that I did not see coming at all – I thought I would make it to the hospital," Gonzalez said. "When we got into the car, I was ready to push. There was no holding her back and Robert – my boyfriend – called 911."

In just two minutes, the baby girl made her speedy entrance into the world. The parents named her Anna Bella Danielle, after Officer Congedo. Anna, who is Gonzalez's fourth child, weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

After the birth, Gonzalez requested to be taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore. Both mom and baby are doing well, and were discharged on Friday, according to hospital officials.
"Having a baby is an exciting time, but there are often health concerns, which are clearly magnified if you are having the baby on the side of the road, with your other children in the car with you," Suffolk County Police Chief of Department Stuart Cameron said. "Officers Congedo and Rosado arrived in time to help ensure the delivery went smoothly and must have been a welcome sight for the Gonzalez family. Police officers begin each day not knowing what their tour will bring and this call began their day with good news that would brighten anyone’s morning."
